“La Cala” literally means “The Cove”.
A cove is a small sheltered bay, usually between rocky headlands, typical of Mediterranean coasts and Islands.
Our logo is inspired by the colours and the figures of the typical majolica handcrafted in many coastal regions of the Southern Italy.
Majolica is used to create plates, jars, tiles, and decorations which are truly an invaluable part of the local craftmanship and artisanship of the Southern Italy.
Through the colours and the pattern of our logo we aim to reproduce and divulgate the beauty, the hospitality, the tastes, and the genuine lifestyle of the Southern part of Italy.
La Cala was born in Nha Trang in 2019 from the idea of two Italian friends who wanted to spread joy through quality Italian food.
Salvatore and Nicola were living in Vietnam already since 2015 when they decided that the time was right to start the adventure with the opening of their first restaurant in Nha Trang in the summer of 2019.
They both come from Southern Italian families with mixed traditions and experience of farming, fishing, and hospitality, thus knowing very well what they were aiming at with the creation of La Cala.
La Cala was very clear in their mind, and it had to be a recreation of a small authentic Southern-Italian corner in Vietnam with an original design and authentic soul.
The design language which was aimed is inspired by the architecture on the Aeolian Islands, possibly among the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean.
The food they chose to serve is prepared with the recipes and the techniques of their mothers and grandmothers.
The philosophy that they apply to the service, is based on the warm hospitality and laid-back healthy lifestyle of the Southern Italy.
Today La Cala has proven to be a project well appreciated and sought after by many locals and travellers in Vietnam, who appreciate all the aspects and principles which went into the creation of it.
From its first opening, La Cala has increased its space and offer in Nha Trang, becoming a known and reputable restaurant in the city. In 2022 La Cala is expanding to other cities and locations with the opening of La Cala by Mia in Thao Dien (HCMC), a branch which is the result of a valuable partnership with the Mia group.
La Cala aims to consolidate and, at the same time, to grow further its reputation and recognition of being an authentic and quality space offering the best Southern Italian food experience in Vietnam.
We aim to grow our offer remaining firmly attached to the four guiding principles of Authenticity, Sustainability, Naturality and Quality which are cornerstones of our philosophy.
Our vision and believe will be cultivated through the people who are the most valuable asset of our project. La Cala’s success will be our people’s success.
